The Blackheaded duck, the only nest parasite among waterfowl. Therefore also named kukou duck. although it is quite common among ruddies to lay some eggs in others nest, these guys do it with all their eggs, they will never sit on any to breed.

Youngsters come out early, most of the time before the other (original) eggs in the nest, so their foster mama leaves the nest with them.

We breed them with Argentine ruddy, sometimes even difficult to recognize the eggs. Someone told me they are quite common in Argentine, best possible if you can drop your eggs anywhere and do not loose time to sit on them. Constand laying, others do the work.

Ex situ only a few keep them going. The birds that went on moments of fashion never established a population. After while all comes back to origine, starting over.
